Question:
If I sincerely do teshuva and ask for forgiveness and H-shem forgives me, but then I have a change of heart in a bad way and start thinking of what I did in a funny, brazen way and brag about it as a funny story, will H-shem rescind His forgiveness? Does a person’s feelings after having done teshuva ever negatively affect them?
Answer:
This is only a theoretical question, because we don’t know what H-shem is actually thinking. H-shem knows what is in the depths of our hearts, and if he sees that we are really sincere and not just fooling ourselves then He forgives. If a person goes and brags about a positive thing that they did, that in itself is not correct, but I don’t know if it will invalidate what was already forgiven.
