We got a new popcorn machine and my 12 year old son took it the store and asked the owner to toivel it for us. Is this valid or do we need to retoivel it? As he is not a gadol, so can he appoint the owner as a shaliach to toivel for us?
Answer:
If you intended that the owner should tovel it for you then that is not an issue, and he would be considered a shaliach. However we cannot trust a child that it was indeed toveled, and you will need to verify this from the owner of the store, by calling him up etc. to make sure that it was indeed toveled correctly.
