Pesach

Question:

Should Tzedaka be given on Pesach? During which day of Pesach? Is there a fixed amount that is customary to give?
What is the purpose of giving Tzedaka on Pesach?

Answer:

You can definitely give tzedakah on Pesach, but what is known as “Maos Chittim”, which is the tzedakah given around Pesach time, should be given before Pesach. This is in order that the poor people should have money to buy matzoh, wine and everything else needed to have a happy Yom Tov. There is no specific amount that one must give, but it does say that we have an obligation to make sure that the poor and downtrodden are taken care of. You can donate to Maos Chittim for torah scholars in Israel through our site at the following link    https://donate.din.org.il/?page_id=233
