I bought an apartment in Brazil. And the building has shabos elevator that was paid by some of the residents of the building.
I am moving in a week and now the residents of the building are requesting me to pay one share of the cost of the shabos elevator (approx 5.000 U$) to use it.
When I bought the apartment from the original owner (non jew) I was not aware that I would have to pay it.
I am Chayav to pay it to use the elevator on shabos?

If they have such a rule the fact that the former owner didn’t inform you doesn’t mean they can’t charge-perhaps you can ask them for a reduction or ask the former owner to give you a reduction based on the fact that you had extra expenses
