Lashon Hara on a Non Jew

Question:

Is it permitted to speak Lashon Hara about a Non-Jew, i.e. “The President of blank country is a very mean person” ?

Answer:

Lashon Hora does not apply to gentiles, as it says in the posuk, “lo telech rochil bamecha”, “ don’t spread slander in your nation” and he is not from our nation therefore there is no biblical prohibition. In general though the Midrash says it is not a good idea to speak lashon hora even about gentiles because we will get into the habit of speaking lashon hora, but regarding your question it is permitted.
