Why do we daven al tashlicheinu l’eis zikna? It seems like we are saying we only need hashem when we get old and weak, but we can manage fine right now without Hashem’s help, thank you very much (ch”v)?
Answer:
It is interesting, because I understood it to mean the exact opposite. While we are young it is clear that the strength we have is from Him, as the Posuk says “ ki hu hanosain l’cha koach la’asos choyil” ( He is the one who gives us strength). However when a person gets old and his strength is taken away, then we specifically daven that during the difficult times, that He should not forsake us.
