Question:
The Gemara in Moed Katan says not to open one’s mouth to the Satan. Is it permitted for an actor to say that bad things happened to him (e.g.., to say on himself that he was in a hospital r”l)? This is part of his role. Is it permitted to say this as part of a mock trial?
Answer:
In consultation with a number of poskim, it seems controversial, if one can say and do things like this during a play. However, saying something that was in the past, would not be an issue, because the person is not suggesting anything, but only saying what was in the past.
Best wishes
