Distortion of Torah

Question:

I READ THIS THE OTHER DAY. IS THIS IN LINE WITH AUTHENTIC TORAH JUDAISM OR A DISTORTION OF THE TRUTH.

“The Bible is an inherently political document. The story of slaves rising up before the most powerful, tyrannical ruler in the ancient world to demand freedom and dignity for all people is an inherently political message.”

THANK YOU.

Answer:

My apologies but the statement that you read was very much a distortion of the Torah, and an attempt to attach a story in the Torah to what is convenient to the author of that statement. The story of the Exodus was very much not a story of slaves rising against a tyrannical oppressor. The Jews waged no battles at all, and no one even lifted a finger to hurt one of their oppressors. It was all done by G-d to show that He is the ruler of the earth, as it says clearly in numerous verses in Exodus  The Exodus was when G-d showed again and again that He is the sole supreme creator, and the sole power on earth and that He alone controls everything. If the story of the Exodus was that slaves held a rebellion, that wold in itself contradict the very objective that G-d wanted. Secondly the Jews leaving Egypt had absolutely nothing to do with dignity, rather that G-d took His people out of bondage in order to enable them to serve Him.
