A mother who had three children in whom two died is only one alive, when it is erev shabbes she has to ascend candle to her living son only? Or for all the children including those who died?
Answer:
This is very sad. Regarding the candles that she lit for her children, essentially lighting extra candles is a kavod shabbos and she shouldn’t diminish the amount of candles that she lights. However regarding such a situation, I heard from R’ Efrayim Greenblatt zt”l that if the extra candles cause her anguish she can lit less, however she should be matir neder.
