Question:

BH
Hello,
Thank you for your help. Is it ok to throw out packages that have “BH” and “BSD” (either in Hebrew or English) on them, or do they require geniza?
Thanks again.

Answer:

Both of these packages may be thrown out. BSD stands for b’siyata dishmaya, meaning “with the help of heaven”, and this is not H-shem’s name. Regarding BH, which preferably should not be written with the letter Hey, rather with a Daled for this reason, however if it was written according to most poskim it may be thrown out and it isn’t shaimos, however there are those that are mehader and put that part into geneiza.

Best wishes
