Criticizing the State of Israel and/or Government

Question:

I recently read your interesting question and answer regarding the prohibition against publicly criticizing Jews and Jewish leaders because it violates the principle of loshon horo.

I was wondering whether the same prohibition applies to criticizing Jewish or mostly Jewish "collectives" — for instance the State of Israel, a Jewish organization, a Jewish-run business etc?

Answer:

When talking about the state of Israel even if what is being said is derogatory, if it in regard to the aspects that isn't talking about anyone specifically then it is not lashon hora. However when talking about a Jewish business or organization, which can cause them harm, even though the lashon hora is not about anyone specific it can still damaging, besides it isn't correct for the person's middos, therefore it should only be said for a toeles.
