If one missed Mincha and Mussaf, should one say three Maariv Amida prayers?

Question:

If one missed Mincha and Mussaf, should one say three Maariv Amida prayers?

Answer:

No, he will only say two. This is because Mussaf does not have a tashlumin, only Shacharis, Mincha and Maariv. The reason being that Mussaf is for the Korban Mussaf which can not be made up, whereas the other tefios are for the Korban Tomid which is brought a number of times a day. When davening, itis important to remember that the first tefiloh is for what you have to daven now,(in your case Maariv), and the second tefiloh is for what you are making up- Mincha.

Best wishes

  1. The answer implies that if one were to miss Shachris and Mincha he would say 3 maarivs

    1. My apologies if it was misunderstood. I was not getting into the issue of a different case. The halacha that we can only make up a tefilla during the next time period was not being discussed here. Although that indeed is the case, my understanding of the question was if mussaf and mincha which are in the same time period, were missed, can both of them be made iup in the next tefillah which is maariv. To that the answer is that Mussaf doesn’t have a tashlumin.
