fish shabbos

Question:

I was eating by someone on Shabbos and unfortunately all the fish fell on the floor, and could not be served. I wanted to ask to be given a small piece (just a mashehu) to have the mitzvah of eating fish on Shabos, as brought in all the seforim hakedoshim of both nistar and nigleh, but then I thought it would be too weird. What should I have done?

If the only bread available fell on the floor, lechora one should eat it on Shabbos? I mean, no one ever died from eating a tiny piece of fish that touched the floor. If a person would know what the Eibeshter will give him after 120 for eating fish on Shabbos….

Answer:

True it would have been out of place and most probably embarrassing to you host. If it would have embarrassed the host, you would have been better off not saying anything, as not making someone feel bad is more important that eating fish on Shabbos.

Best wishes
