Question:

Is home organizing/unpacking a problem during the 9 days?

We moved into a new home about a month ago and now that we have summer vacation I would like to use the time to unpack properly and put things in their place. It is for functional purposes so things won’t be in as much disarray; and also is for appearance purposes as I will try to organize in a way that is pleasing to the eye as well. Is this a problem? What is the definition of decorating that is not appropriate?

If its allowed, should we refrain if we can do it later during the summer?

Thanks so much

Answer:

You are allowed to unpack your belongings in your new home, even though it will obviously make your home nicer. What is not permitted is adding new decorations, painting, and doing home improvements.

You should have much bracha in your new home
