Cholent cooked on Shabbos

Question:

If on shabbos night there is a blackout and a few hours later the government turn it back on, am I allowed to eat the cholet? My question is if there is a problem of bishul akum and also is there a problem of a goy cooking on shabbos for a jew? Thank you.

Answer:

The cholent is permitted to eat. It is not an issue of bishul akum because you did some of the cooking, and because the gentile did not mean to cook your cholent for you. He was merely providing electricity for the city, which included all of the non-Jewish residence. This also the reason why his causing your cholent to cook on Shabbos is not a problem, because he didn’t do it for you.

Best wishes
