Question:

We have an adult child without sufficient income that needs ongoing therapy and psychiatry that is very costly. Can we use maaser money to help her? Thank you.

Answer:

Yes , you may use maaser to fund these therapies. Although we may not use maaser money for our own personal mitzvos, i.e. to by an esrog, since you are are not halachically required to provide the child with the therapy, it is not considered as if you are using your maaser money to pay for you own personal expenses.

Have a good Shabbos
