Question:
A certain man purchased a grave in our cemetery, he moved away and was buried in another cemetery. His family was asked what should be done with his plot and they did not respond. Can the Shul keep the money and sell the plot to another person?
Answer:
The plot belongs the person who bought it, or his inheritors, and the shul cannot just keep the money. If, however something of this sort is written in the contract, then they would have the right to do what has already been agreed.
