My daughter asked if she is allowed to still talk to Hashem after saying hamapil to ask for personal things. I understand that the halacha of not talking after hamapil is not to talk for things that are not important but if there is a great need it is allowed and that one may think in learning as well after hamapil. But can one still talk to Hashem in their own language as well?

Beautiful!! How wonderful it world be if we would all talk to Hashem, before going to sleep. It is permitted, as it is no different than learning or saying pesukim of kriyas shema after saying hamapil
