According to the opinions that shaitels are permitted (of course with appropriate length and style), what is the halacha when it comes to laced top/front shaitels? Ive heard that many people cant tell that these women wearing them are covering their hair.

Correct this is indeed why numerous rabbonim say not to wear such a shaitel…because it looks too real, and it defeats the reason for wearing a shaitel.
