Two brachos for mishloach Manos?

Question:

I think that I’ve messed up the proper giving of matanos this year for Purim. The Halacha was to give two different kinds of brachos on food. I gave mezonos 3 packs: Chocolate chip cookies, peanut butter sandwich cookies and muffins. The second one was just sprinkles in a shaker. Sprinkles would be shehakol. Did this sound appropriate as a handout? I might have embarrassed myself this year. Can you confirm.

Thank you.

Answer:

Thank you for the question.

There is a major misconception that Mishloach Manos must be two separate brachos. This is not true. The Rambam and Shulchan Aruch specifically says that one may give two different types of meat for Mishloach Manos, which obviously are the same bracha. Therefore, you were yotza the mitzva by giving the two different types of cookies. In short- you’re doing great.

Best wishes
