Paskening by oneself

Question:

I have learnt several years in Kollel and I have learnt Shabbos, Niddah and Issur V’Heter. The mehalech of learning was to learn Tur, Beis Yosef and then the Shulchan Aruch and the main Noiseh Keilim. We then had shiur on the practical Halacha Lema’aseh.
I am thinking of learning a section of Halcha by myself such as Hilchos Chol Hamoed or Brochos. My question is when I have completed everything from the Tur until the Mishna Berura and Biur Halacha, when there is a practical sha’ala which recent Poskim have different opinions about, how can I be machria myself?
Do I take the position I find the most reasonable according to everything I have seen until then, should i stick to one Posek such as R’ Moshe Feinstein ZTL, or ask every machlokes HaPoskim to my Rov and ask who we pasken with? Are there any seforim on Klalei Hora’ah which deal with this?
Thank you

Answer:

It is hard to give over such ideas in such a forum. In general though, until you have enough experience, ask your Rov, and with time you will get a feel from him what you should do.
