Mezuza the fell of the door. Do I make a bracha when putting it back on?

Question:

The mezuza on the door to my enclosed porch kept falling off. I had it checked and it’s kosher. Do I have to say a beracha before affixing it again? I’m Sephardic.

Answer:

You should say a bracha when it is reaffixed on the door post. The reason is because when it fell down it is considered a hefseik in the mitzva, and now it is like you are doing a new mitzva. This halacha is similar ot when a person’s tallis falls off  by mistake, that he has to say a bracha on it when he puts it back on.

Best wishes
