Question:
A Cohen wanted to marry a divorced convert. Discussing the situation with a friend (without mentioning the names of the parties), my friend said there was no problem because both persons are senior (over 65) and because he’s divorced and already had a son and a daughter. I never heard such thing so I said that a Cohen cannot marry a convert no matter how old he is and secondly, a Cohen cannot marry a divorced woman, period. Who is right?
Answer:
Hello,
You are right. The prohibition for a kohen to marry a divorcee or a convert has nothing to do with their being able to have children together.
All the best
