Tevilas keilim – things that touched toaster over

Question:

Hello. I have an untoiveled toaster oven. Old but never used. I store ziploc bags on top of it. Can they be used for food or is anything that touched the toaster oven off limits?

Answer:

It is great that you are asking… because otherwise you wouldn’t know.

A toaster oven does not need to be toveled, because it doesn’t come it direct contact with food, and only the racks and trays need tevila. Additionally, the toaster may be used for nonfood items, such as storing the bags on top of it, the bag on top of the toaster oven may definitely be used even for food.

Best wishes

  1. Thank you. Still ok even though the tray has not been toiveled? It is inside and the bags are on top. This is new to me
