Question:
I borrowed a plastic crib from a friend 5 years ago – it was well used then – we broke a part of it – not due to neglicence more because it was older and the plastic was anyway brittle….. now I want to give it back – do I have to buy her a new one – if not what do I give her back?
Answer:
What you have to pay your friend is the difference in the cribs value before and after it was broken. This is something that is not easy to evaluate, because the crib was a number of years old. The best thing would be to speak to your friend and work out some sort of compromise which both of you will be happy with.
Best wishes
