I have just heard a man speaking to his motorcycle whilst revving it. He said something like ‘Yes, baby!’ when revving the engine. Is this avodah zarah? If so, would saying ‘Come on!’ to a slow computer also be considered avodah zarah too?

No it is not considered avoda zara, unless he thinks that his motorcycle has some special divine power (which I hope he doesn’t)! The person is not talking to his motorcycle, rather he is talking to himself, very much the same way a mother talks to her newborn baby as she is changing his clothing. She is verbalizing her emotions, and not really talking to her baby.
