Minimum for tznius

Question:

Shalom rabbi, What is the minimum amount for a women to dress with tznius? Because I’ve seen all different things and heard different things. I’ve heard be can’t see the elbow, I’ve heard a tefach above the elbow is the minimum. And if the elbow is the most accepted lenient view then is it the bottom, middle or top of the elbow?
Thank you!

Answer:

Thank you for your question.

A woman should make sure that her elbow is completely covered. The bone of the upper arm is considered ervah, and it extends until and including the elbow. Including in this is that she should make sure that it remains covered in all positions, i.e. even when she picks up her arm. I am not familiar with the idea of a tefach below the elbow, although from a practical aspect, it would help ensure that her elbow indeed stays covered.

Best wishes
