Question:
Hello, I have two questions related to waking up in the morning:
1. I am currently sharing a bedroom with a relative who snores. This morning I woke up and wanted to go back to sleep but suspected I would not be able to. Without thinking, I mumbled to stop snoring. I know one should not speak in the morning before washing–anything I have to do?
2. If there is a package of food by the bed and one touches the outer package before washing in the morning, is the food ok to eat?
Thank you
Answer:
Thank you for your question.
- There is no problem with talking before waking our hands on the morning, as we say modeh ani even before washing our hands. We don’t touch any holes of the body or food, however there is no issue with speaking beforehand.
- The food may be eaten even if you did touch the package. We should be careful not to touch the food itself, and if it was touched, if possible, it should preferably be washed off.
Best wishes
