It depends on your level of understanding of the Rashi. if you understand it then you should read the Rashi however if you can't understand it, then you may read it in English from a reliable English source.

O:CH 285-3 M"B 4,5. R' Dovid Feinstein in the name of R' Moshe Feinstein ZT"L in Yagel Yackov pg. 208. The Taz 285-2 says if someone can't understand the Rashi, he can read it with a translation, which would mean that if one can understand it, that he should preferably read it from the Rashi itself.
