Can one try on a suit if it may contain shatnez?

If the suit indeed contains shatnez, the in it is controversial. Some Rishonim hold that since you don’t mean to benefit from the garment, as you only mean to try it on for size and not to wear it, that it is permitted. However, others say that it isn’t permitted since the person is benefitting from the garment when it is tried on. One should be careful about his and not even try the garment on. However, when it is only questionable if the suit has shatnez, and most suits nowadays indeed don’t, then the poskim say that we don’t have to abstain from trying it on, and it is permitted.
