Regarding a single woman and the tznius concept of tying the hair back- may a headband be worn on its own? Would this count as “tying the hair back” (meaning if the lady wears a headband and does not tie the hair into a ponytail with it?) Thank you

What you are asking depends on the local customs. If the single girls in that area are wearing their hair in a pony tail that is one thing, but if they aren’t, then wearing in a headband would be acceptable.
