Normal wear and tear?

Question:

Hi,
I rented an apartment for 8 years and things are starting to break. For example, the oven door is falling off, cabinetry is cracking and the carpet has stains after all the usage. The oven repair person said that this base model has a life expectancy of 6 years, and the cabinets are not real wood.
Do I need to repair those items when I move? Or is normal wear and tear expected.

Answer:

Thank you for your question.

Normal wear and tear, are part of the reason why you paid rent, and you wouldn’t haveto pay for that unless it was stipulated in the contract otherwise. Regarding any specific issue, that would have to be discussed in person with a dayan.

Best wishes
