Question:
B"H
Kavod haRav
A company sells an item online but realizes it is not in stock and offers customer 20% off their next order.
1. is it ok to use the discount? (ribbis or other issue?)
2. When communicating about the original order on the phone, I called slightly after business hours, and someone picked up. Within probably less than a minute, I realized that to keep the employee on the phone may be considered stealing their time. I got off the phone quickly and emailed the employee sorry for taking their time after hours, they replied it wasnt a problem at all. I do not believe this employee is Jewish but I cannot say for 100%. Any issue with this itself, or as it applies to the discount being used?
Thank you sincerely
Answer:
Thank you for your question.
- It is fine to use the discount that the company gave you. This is their way of keeping their customers happy, and you can take the present... enjoy!
- This is also not of any concern. Whatever the company does between their employees is their issue, and you don't have to worry about it. It is very possible that the employee gets paid until they clock out, and you didn't steal anything from anyone. even if it was overtime, the person agreed to answer the phone, so you have nothing to be concerned about.
- Best wishes
