Question:
Rabbi – Am I required to seek additional opinions regarding a halachic position/response asked of my Rabbi regarding a marital issue, if I have heard there may be a different halachic position on the issue. Basically, I posed a question to my Rabbi on what to do halachically regarding a marital issue. I have acted on his advice; however sometime later saw mention of potentially a different halachic point of view on the issue. I have not researched it, and not sure I would want to as it may cause more stress to me. Am I required to investigate, or can I stick with the guidance given by my Rabbi?
Answer:
Thank you for your question.
If the person you asked is your Rabbi, and you didn’t just go to him because he gives “better service” and a more convenient answer, and he is qualified to answer the type question you asked, you can rely on his answer.
Best wishes
