My son found 5 shekels in the coin slot of a supermarket trolley in Modiin. It seems that someone returned the trolley to the trolley rack but forgot to recover their 5 shekel deposit. Can he keep the 5 shekels? We saw a similar question in your archives about money found in a supermarket, but we are concerned that maybe here the money was found in a particular place and that constitutes a siman. Thank you.

You may keep the five shekels. Although the person who put it there, placed it there on purpose, however it was done with the intent that it will be removed when the person finishes shopping, besides for the fact that the 5 shekels doesn’t have a siman as all (or at least many) of the wagons have such a device.
