Chametz after Pesach

Question:

Hi Rabbi.
I have a question. We try to avoid buying foods that are chametz gamur after Passover. On the other hand, we sold cosmetics and perfumes that might contain chametz (I’m not sure what alcohol was used to make the perfume) and now we want to use it again. Is this a contradiction? Or can one be lenient with non-food products?

Answer:

Thank you for your question.

Even if the cosmetics contain chometz, it would only be ta’aroves chometz, and you wouldn’t have any issue using them or selling them.

Best wishes
