Hi Rabbi,
I put up a mezuzah on my garage door just before leaving on a trip. At the time I noticed that the material was vinyl of the garage doorway or something similar so I didn’t think I could use a nail. I used the adhesive strip instead to affix the Mezuzah. After returning from my trip, I no longer see the Mezuzah up and I could not find it anywhere on my property. I am not sure what to do, I feel very bad that it’s lost and I’m concerned about it being a holy item and what kind of place it is in. Is there anything I must do in this situation?

Hi,
I don’t really see what you can do about the situation other than get another mezuza quickly and attach it to the wall in a secure fashion so that what happened will not repeat itself.
