Tallis fell off – new beracha?

Hi, do I make a new beracha if my Tallis falls off during davening to floor?

Good question.

Th Shulchan Aruch 8-15 writes that if one’s tallis falls off that he has to make another bracha.  That is the basic halacha, the reason being since there was a break in the performance of the mitzva. This idea should apply to tefillin and mezuza. Now although the Shulchan Aruch does rule this way, the practical custom among many is not to make a bracha, since there are authorities who disagree with the Shulchan Aruch. The same would apply to tefillin, if they move out of their place during davening, we don’t say another bracha when moving back to its proper place. According to those authorities during davening we consider it as if the person was not distracted from doing the mitzva of tallis and tefillin. After davening however this would not apply. this idea does not apply to mezuza, as the person didn’t put int on special for a certain period, as by davening.
