May I buy a new wig during the three weeks? May I also wear it for the first time before the 9 days? (Our family does not say “Shehechiyanu” on this)

The main reason we don’t buy new clothing during the three weeks is because we don’t make a shehechiyanu during this period. Therefore, a person who doesn’t say shehechiyanu when buying new clothing, but only when wearing them, is allowed to buy clothing during the three weeks, since the bracha will not be said then in any case. Regarding wearing it, if your family minhag is not to make shehechiyanu on it, (although it is usually considered a significant purchase and it does, give the women joy), then you would be able to wear before the nine days. However, for those who do say shehechiyanu on it, they shouldn’t wear it for the first time during the three weeks, although according to the Mishna Berura it is permitted on Shabbos. As a side point, although it is halachically permitted, there is a certain preference to refraining from buying items that give a person special joy during the three weeks. it is better to wear it the first time on Shabbos.

אמנם ע’ מבית לוי חי”ג עמ’ כ”ב אות ד’, בין המצרים תשנ”ט עמ’ ח’ אות ד’ “אין איסור בקנית בגדים וכלים חדשים עד ר”ח מנ”א, רק שאין להשתמש בהם ולברך שהחיינו … ומ”מ כדאי להמנע במדת האפשר, מקנית דברים חשובים שראוי לברך עליהם שהחיינו, אף אם הוא אינו מברך”.
