Question:
I am questioned by a parent about the boy dating her daughter. As I work in a medical office, I know the boy is on serious medication for anxiety. She asks me among other questions, not knowing where I work if he is on medication. I think this boy has serious medical issues/problems. I know that as a fact. Can I reveal that info keeping in mind the 5 conditions the Chofetz Chaim sets forth? However, there’s a secular law known as HIPAA that I would violate in revealing this info to the parent. It’s an issue I think of Dina d’malchusa dina? What should do knowing the shidduch is nearly a close in a positive way?
Answer:
Hello,
You can’t say it because of the medical profession aspect of it, however you can tell them that they should check into it.
Best wishes
