Keil Maleh Rachamim

Question:

Can Kale Male be said on yarhtzeit falls on Tisha b’Av that is a nidcheh?

Answer:

Hello.

There is no difference between Tisha Bav that is a nidche or not. On the Yahrtzeit it is permitted to say Keil Maleh Rachamim. Even though in general eulogies are not said on Tisha Bav, however Keil Maleh after the first year is not considered a eulogy, rather a prayer for the niftar, and permitted. It should however be noted that there are many places that don’t say Keil Maleh on days when tachnun is not said, ( Chanukah, Purim Rosh Chodesh etc.) if you are davening in such a place you would not say keil Maleh. However, in places where Keil Maleh is said on such days, it would be permitted.

Best wishes
