Saying names at Yizkor

Question:

Dear Rabbi
When saying Yizkor for grandparents, can one say multiple names during the same prayer or does one need to say each individual in a separate prayer. For example, one saying for females, can one mention both grandmothers together or should one start again from the word ‘yizkor’ for each grandparent?

Answer:

Hello,

When saying Yizkor one may say multiple names (both grandmothers, parents, sisters) that are applicable in the same tefillah, and you don’t have to start from th word yizkor again. There is a minhag that the chevra kaddish says one tefillah for all those who they buried, they surely don’t say a separate teffilah for each person. However, we say a separate tefilloh for men and women.

Best wishes
