Writing name of Hashem

Question:

If I want to write the name of Hashem in my notes, is there any halachic preference for writing a daled ‘ד or a heh ‘ה or writing out heh shin mem השם?

Answer:

Hello,

Halachically there is a preference to writing a ד’ instead of a ה’. The reason is because there are poskim who say that when the letter ה’ is written to refer to Hashem, that it should not be erased without a need. However the letter ד’  would not have this issue, additionally writing השם, would be permitted, since it isn’t Hashem’s name, rather the word that we use in order not to write Hashem’s name.

Best wishes
