“Footing” the bill before Shemita

Question:

My sister has been paying our cell phone bill and then when she receives a paycheck, deducts the bill from her maaser (as we qualify for her maaser money.) It seems that the way she sees it, until she receives her paycheck we actually OWE her the money for the bill. It seems like we owed her the money for a phone bill before shemita ended. Is this a problem if we dont know if she did a pruzbul?

Answer:

She can take the money she used for the cell phone bill from maaser. When she paid for the bill that is when she actually gave the tzedakah. She didn’t write it in the books, until she actually had the money in her hand, (which is something she did not have to do).

Best wishes
