We try to give maaser from our earnings bli neder for hachsokas hatoiro. We have a big family bli ayin horo and our income is not so big. Our son is going to go Yeshiwe Gedola out of town be”H.
Are we allowed to pay S’char limud for Yeshiwe from this money? Does this count as Hachsokas Hatoire? What about other costs concerning his going to Yeshiwe like for example tickets, spending money?

Hello,
It is permitted for a parent, especially if thier financial situation is difficult, to use ma’aser money to pay for tution for a child in high school or Yeshiva Gedola. In fact, since one may use ma’aser money for this, giving ma’aser money to a close relative is preferred over other needy people. It is also considered supporting Torah. Paying for his ticket would also be considered hachzakas hatorah.
