Question:
My daughter- 12 years old was eating salmon and got a bone stuck in her throat. She said ‘I’m never eating salmon again’
She later said she didn’t mean it. Does she need Hataras Nedarim ?
Answer:
Hello,
She should be reprimanded not to say such things in the future, however technically it isn’t a neder and there is no need for her to do hataras nedarim. Had she said that salmon is forbidden to me, like a korban, then it would be a neder. Alternatively, had she used the proper terminology of a shvuah, then she would need hatara, but the words she used do not consist a neder.
