Returning lost object – child

Question:

My child brought home a children’s wallet that they found in the park.
It contained a name and number on the wallet but is unreadable, and it contains under 100 nis without any other papers or cards etc.
I had them put up posters and they tried numerous combinations of phone numbers and names without success.
Since they brought it home can I have them just put it back where they found it?

Answer:

Hello,

Since the child’s money goes to you it is as if you now claimed it, and you have the obligation to return it. You can’t put it back in its place, because you have the obligation to watch it at this point. You can try calling the “Merca Ha’arzei Lhashavas Aveida” at 1599-500-003, and let them know about it.

Best wishes
