Question:
My teenager was pan frying potatoes when he inadvertently dropped a piece to the kitchen floor. Without thinking, he picked up the hot, oily potato and returned it to the pan to continue cooking. Is there a kashrut issue for the pan, utensils, plates, etc? As an additional piece of info, we own a dog. Although she doesn’t eat in that area and the floor is mopped fairly regularly, I can’t say for 100% certainty that the dog didn’t bring a treat or a piece of food into the kitchen.
Answer:
Hello,
There is no kashrus issue with what happened. We don’t have a significant reason to, doubt that there was something trief precisely in the place that the potato fell. Additionally, even if the was something on the floor that did touch the potato, it was insignificant, and not something to worry about.
Best wishes
