Question:
Hi, I have terrible OCD.
I have tons of shemos. Wheater it be note cards from school, or copies of my brothers bar mitzvah laining scrolls. I keep it in around 16 piles scattered all over my room. I am scared to stack them, but my room is getting very messy, and I have all my old tests and homework with possible sheimos all over my room. I am scared to stack, if I just pile it all and some have Hashems Name, is it ok if they are on top of each other (the note cards) on the photocopies of chumashim.. when I drop off for sheimos?
Answer:
Hello,
Before getting to your answer, if you have OCD you should go for help.
Regarding keeping chumashm on top of nach and nach on top of torah shebal pe, we don’t have to be particular about this in a bag or box of shaimos. As we see the people, and shuls do not keep separate sheimos bags, to make sure that gemora pages are not placed on top of chumash pages. The reason for this however is not so clear. According to a number of poskim, the reason is because when a person puts papers into a shaimos bag or box they don’t mean to put one thing on top of the other, rather whatever has to be put in is placed there, without any specific order.
Best wishes
