Three weeks and nine days

Question:

Hello Rabbi,
1. May one use new washcloths during the three weeks and nine days?

2. May one drink grape juice on Shabbat during the nine days?
3. May one wear fresh clothing on Shabbat during the nine days?

Answer:

Hello,

1. During the three weeks it is permitted, as we don’t make a shechiyanu when using a new washcloth. Regarding the nine days, it is also permitted because when the washcloth is wet when you use it the first time, it is not evident that it is new, and you have no joy in it’s being new.
2. It is permitted to drink wine or grape juice on Shabbos during the nine days.
3. There are different opinions regarding this, however the general custom is to wear freshly laundered clothing on Shabbos during the nine days.
